Not impressed with the CWRU campus. Very urban and disjointed. Couldn't tell when you entered or left the campus. Two separate campuses separated by busy streets and hospital buildings.

Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:

Buildings were utilitarian, the Case part of campus was not very well kept.

No dorm visit.

I have a friend whose son is a CWRU grad and he was robbed a couple of times on campus.

Overall Campus Impression:
1 - Poor
1 - Poor
I now understand why CWRU's yield is so low, mostly a #2 choice. Academics are primo but campus is a pit and most students are total geeks! Many students appear to have not showered for a seme

Area Immediately Around Campus:

The immediate neighborhood is fine with lots of museums and Little Italy, but it goes down hill very quickly.

Cleveland impressed me as a whole. The immediate neighborhood is fine with lots of museums and Little Italy, but it goes down hill very quickly.

Campus Visit Notes for Case Western Reserve University

Visit Description:

We attended the recent CWRU Open House. The school does a great job in the information sessions, very organized and visitor friendly. The academics sound awesome with great UG research opportunities, but the campus is disjointed, very urban and the Case quad buildings are in poor shape. The newer buildings look great but the older buildings really need some work. Students involved in the admissions process were very friendly and open but students walking around campus were not very open with visitors. Many looked as though they hadn't showered the whole semester. Super geeks! We had heard from others that, during overnight visits, most students would not interact or even take the visiting student out to lunch. The immediate area around campus is quite nice but very loud and busy, no relaxing green space here. Venture a few blocks off campus and the neighborhood deteriorates pretty quickly. We know a recent graduate who was robbed twice as a student on campus.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

Doubletree Tudor Arms was recommended by the school. It has a great location just off campus and the old architecture was neat. Room was nice, restaurant was OK, but parking is expensive.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

Parking on campus was OK, garage right next to campus center.
